LIGHT

Painting light and its effect… how it transforms things… the way it plays with shadow and color… the way it creates layers in the atmosphere at sunrise and sunset, breaking through fog and cloud.

My goal as a painter is to create an image that could dazzle you, have you do a double take, make you smile, or question all with the play of light.

I have had the privilege of studying with two incredibly wonderful artists. Suzie Wilson taught me the human form, and how to reconfigure the 3 dimensional world into 2 dimensions. Wayne Jiang imparted on me his massive knowledge of the various goals and techniques of artists through the centuries, translated into the medium of acrylic paint. He has generously shared with me his unique layering techniques in acrylic that invoke the spirit of classic oil paintings.
